Yep, right there with you. I'm horrible, but I often find myself saying, "You can't fix stupid." I know, not nice. But, when you have those shake-your-head moments, it's the sentiment that comes to mind. :)
I had not thought of the chance that stupid might be contagious. Must....hold....breath....at..... McDonald's.
