Urban Anchor

Raining in Philadelphia... dropping Mother in Law at Airport... at my Law Office fielding phone calls and e-mails and faxes....the artifical urgency of same...makes me wish I was one of the men pictured above.
How liberating and relaxing to be on horseback with good companions and trusty rifles and dogs... in the Wilderness discussing the stategy for the day's hunt...or maybe whether the horses can make it to the Ritz Carlton in the next town. Either scenario trumps being at my desk right now.

PS. Artist featured above is William Ranney. He is the Great Grandfather of one of my hunting Buddies...and another favorite painter of Sporting art.

My old boss and I used to have a similar conversation. But we always figured that somewhere someone was telling them that year-to-date their beaver pelt count was down compared to same-period-last year. The hostile take over bid by the Lakotas had ruined the safety goals. Did the home office need to send someone out?

I vote for the Ritz! Pastoral as it is, horses hate me and I don't see one bar in this picture!

But I've been there man. Great post.

There's a restless air all over today. Not sure what it is, but it's uneasy. Very strange out this way.

Lakotas? The lakotas did not inhabit good fur routes, but those pesky Black Foot and Piautes were all over the place. Organic growth was in deed negative so it was nothing but aquisition.

All joking aside, I've done my share of trapping and I would in deed rather NOT be one of those guys. I would much rather have been WIlfred Thesiger.

Oh man, I can sympathise. There are days I think I'd rather be a surf bum in Baja or Hawaii, or slumming it down in South America somewhere. And then the office pulls me in again.
